Senior Veterinary Surgeon — Surgical Focus | Co. Westmeath, Ireland

Salary up to €70,000 per year | No on-call | Two-week rotating rota

The Vet Office is recruiting a Veterinary Surgeon with strong surgical skills to join a small animal practice in County Westmeath, Ireland.

This opportunity would suit an experienced vet who enjoys surgery and is comfortable taking responsibility for the practice in the owner's absence.

The role

• Provide consultations, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing patient care.
• Perform routine soft tissue surgery confidently and independently.
• Carry out dental procedures, including extractions.
• For the senior position, oversee the day-to-day clinical running of the practice when the owner is away.

About you

Ideally, you will have 5–15 years' experience, although vets with 2–5 years' experience and strong surgical skills are also encouraged to apply.

For the most senior role and highest salary package, you should be able to:

• Perform a large-breed bitch spay in approximately one hour.
• Complete abdominal closure in approximately 25 minutes.
• Perform dental extractions confidently.
• Make independent clinical decisions and manage the practice in the owner's absence.

These surgical benchmarks should be met while maintaining appropriate patient safety and clinical standards.
