Newly renovated small animal clinic
The Vet Office is recruiting an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse for a newly renovated and well-established small animal clinic in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RVN ready to take the next step into leadership and clinic management, while remaining actively involved in clinical nursing.
The Clinic
You'll join a friendly, established team consisting of:
2 experienced Veterinary Surgeons
RVN
Animal Care Assistant
Front-of-House support
The clinic has recently been renovated and upgraded with modern equipment, while retaining a loyal and established client base.
Free parking is available, with shops, cafés and local amenities nearby.
The Role
As Head Veterinary Nurse, you'll work closely with the Lead Veterinary Surgeon and play an important role in the clinical standards, performance and culture of the practice.
Your responsibilities will combine hands-on veterinary nursing with leadership, including:
- Leading, supporting and mentoring the nursing team
- Assisting with surgery, anaesthesia and treatments
- Maintaining excellent patient-care standards
- Managing rotas, annual leave and team scheduling
- Conducting 1-to-1s and performance reviews
- Training and developing nursing team members
- Monitoring stock, costs and clinic resources
- Supporting clinic administration and monthly processes
- Ensuring clinical and Health & Safety compliance
- Supporting front-of-house operations and client experience
- Helping drive the overall performance and development of the clinic
Working Pattern
40 hours per week
Monday–Friday
1 in 4 Saturdays
1 in 12 Sundays – daytime OOH clinic
Salary & Bonuses
€40,000–€50,000 gross/year, depending on experience
PLUS:
€2,000 Joining Bonus
Annual Performance Bonus
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Is a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
- Has at least 3 years' RVN experience
- Has previous senior nursing or leadership experience
- Is confident mentoring and developing colleagues
- Has strong organisational and communication skills
- Enjoys combining clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities
- Is proactive, reliable and team-focused
- Is passionate about maintaining high clinical standards
