Veterinary Assistant | Fremont Animal Hospital

Fremont Animal Hospital is looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time, in-person position for someone who enjoys hands-on animal care, supporting a veterinary medical team, and helping pets and their families feel comfortable during every visit.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in the daily flow of our animal hospital. You'll work closely with our veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide excellent patient care, assist with exams and procedures, and help keep the hospital clean, organized, and welcoming.

This is a great opportunity for someone with veterinary practice experience who is looking to grow their skills in a supportive, team-focused environment.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will help support patient care, client service, and hospital operations. Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures
• Preparing patients, exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical areas, and equipment
• Helping with diagnostic services, including laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging
• Monitoring pets during hospital stays, recovery, or boarding
• Providing gentle, compassionate handling and care for dogs, cats, and other patients
• Filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy hospital environment
• Communicating clearly and professionally with team members and pet owners
• Supporting the overall flow of appointments, treatments, and daily hospital needs

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about veterinary medicine and animal care. We're looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to jump in where needed.

Qualifications include:

• At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice or equivalent hands-on animal care experience
• Comfort assisting with animal restraint, exams, treatments, and basic hospital procedures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Kindness, empathy, and professionalism, especially during sensitive client situations
• Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced veterinary hospital setting
• Comfort using phones, computers, and veterinary medical software
• A team-first attitude and willingness to support coworkers, patients, and clients
