Venture Dynamics is seeking skilled Electricians to install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems aboard Navy and commercial vessels. This role involves cable installation and termination, electrical equipment installation, testing, and system upgrades in active shipyard and shipboard environments. Electricians must be capable of working independently while meeting marine, NAVSEA, and OSHA Maritime electrical standards. This position supports shipyard projects throughout the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, including Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton, and Yorktown.

Per diem may be available depending on contract requirements and travel distance.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain shipboard electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, motors, panels, controllers, and auxiliary equipment

  • Pull, route, hang, and secure cable and wireways through passageways, overheads, bulkheads, and machinery spaces

  • Terminate cables using approved lugs, connectors, and shipboard termination standards

  • Perform continuity, polarity, insulation resistance (megger), and operational testing as required

  • Install electrical panels, switchboards, controllers, and associated equipment in accordance with marine specifications

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and support corrective maintenance and system restoration efforts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of marine or ship repair electrical experience

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and shipboard electrical documentation

  • Proficiency in cable pulling, termination, splicing, and electrical equipment installation

  • Strong working knowledge of AC/DC systems, power distribution, and shipboard electrical equipment

  • Experience using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and insulation resistance testers

  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening per customer requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required base access credentials, including DBIDS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working aboard Navy vessels or to NAVSEA electrical standards

  • Familiarity with shipboard power distribution and control systems

  • OSHA 10 Maritime certification

  • Experience supporting multi-trade ship repair or modernization projects

Additional Information
Work is performed aboard vessels, in dry docks, and in industrial shipyard environments. This role requires frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and work in confined or elevated spaces such as tanks, voids, and overhead areas. Exposure to noise, electrical hazards, and industrial conditions is expected. Respiratory protection may be required in limited circumstances based on task location or environmental conditions. Candidates must be able to safely wear required PPE in accordance with site safety policies. Reliable transportation is required to report to assigned shipyard or project locations. Work schedules may include overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts depending on project and production requirements.
