About the job ALL PIPEFITTERS
Venture Dynamics is seeking experienced Marine Pipefitters to install, fabricate, modify, and repair piping systems aboard Navy and commercial vessels. This role supports ship repair and system renewal work through precise pipe layout, fit-up, silver brazing, and mechanical piping installation in active shipyard environments. Marine Pipefitters must be able to read shipboard drawings and execute piping work to NAVSEA and customer specifications. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.
Per diem may be available depending on contract requirements and travel distance.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, and NAVSEA piping specifications.
- Fit, fabricate, route, and install piping systems using standard pipefitting methods, including copper-nickel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and PVC.
- Perform silver brazing on copper-nickel and other approved piping materials.
- Prep pipe joints for welding or brazing, including beveling, cleaning, and fit-up to tolerance.
- Install valves, flanges, hangers, supports, unions, and reducers.
- Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, including flushing and leak checks.
- Remove, repair, and replace shipboard piping systems and components.
Requirements
- Strong, proven silver brazing skills on copper-nickel and other approved piping materials to shipyard and customer standards.
- Minimum 5 years of pipefitting experience in Navy or commercial ship repair environments.
- Ability to read and apply shipyard drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and piping layouts.
- Proficiency in pipe layout, fabrication, fit-up, and measurement tolerances.
- Experience preparing joints for welders and coordinating with welding teams.
- Ability to safely use pipefitting tools including bevelers, threaders, grinders, saws, and precision measuring devices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required base access credentials, including DBIDS.
- Must pass background screening and drug testing per customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior silver brazing certification (MIL-SPEC, AWS, or ABS accepted by customers).
- Experience working under NAVSEA Standard Items and Navy piping-system requirements.
- OSHA-10 Maritime certification.
- Experience supporting multi-trade piping or mechanical projects.
Additional Information
Work is performed aboard vessels, in dry docks, and in industrial shipyard environments supporting Navy and commercial repair operations. Duties may involve confined or elevated spaces, including tanks, voids, bilges, and machinery spaces. Exposure to industrial noise, dust, fumes, and environmental conditions is expected; respiratory protection may be required based on task or location. PPE is required in accordance with site safety policies. Work schedules may include overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts based on production needs. Reliable transportation is required to report to assigned shipyard or project locations.
