About the Opportunity

An established and reputable engineering consulting firm is seeking a skilled Electrical Project Engineer to join its growing MEP Design team on the East Coast. This position is ideal for an ambitious engineer with experience in building systems design whos ready to take on greater technical responsibility and client-facing exposure.

As a Project Engineer, youll contribute to the planning, design, and documentation of electrical systems for a variety of commercial, retail, and institutional projects. Youll work closely with senior engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designswhile developing your expertise and leadership capabilities within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate electrical systems, including power, lighting, and low-voltage systems, for diverse building types.

  • Assist in project planning, design documentation, and specifications for electrical and MEP systems.

  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and system analyses.

  • Review and update drawings, coordinate with other disciplines, and ensure design accuracy.

  • Prepare project reports, due diligence documentation, and cost estimates.

  • Support project managers in budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.

  • Conduct on-site inspections and review shop drawings as needed.

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and consultants to achieve project goals.

  • Mentor and delegate tasks to junior staff, ensuring quality control and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in MEP design for building systems

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with HVAC load calculation tools such as HAP, CHVAC, or Trace 3D Plus.

  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction practices, and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Excellent organizational, technical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
