About the job Product Manager: HP Consumer
Purpose:
An ICT distribution organisation is seeking a Product Manager whose role is crucial to facilitate a relationship between the product and the business while maintaining the value realized from capital invested in HP. The Product Manager is responsible for stock holding and sellout management, ensuring the business realise it’s targets. The Product Manager is the liaison between sales and the vendor. As such, the Product Manager supports the overall business strategy
Key Job Outputs:
- Achieve monthly GP, sell-in, sell-out, stock, and aged stock targets in line with HP Inc. and Pinnacle requirements
- Manage and track targets against performance, providing regular reporting and insights
- Manage overall product profitability
- Manage OTB, stock, sell-out budgets, and weeks of inventory across a large and diverse product portfolio
- Manage stock efficiently within budget, including active and aging stock
- Oversee the order management process to maintain optimal service and stock levels
- Understand and manage end-to-end logistics processes
- Lead weekly sales meetings and assist in resolving stock-related issues
- Produce and manage product costings, pricing, and retailer quotations
- Produce, review, and maintain product pricing and margin structures
- Assist the sales team with quotations, listings, and commercial support
- Understand and apply HP Inc. compensation and incentive programs
- Ensure alignment with Pinnacle strategies, policies, and HP product strategies
- Produce product support documentation, performance reports, and target tracking as required
- Maintain the ERP system, ensuring accurate product codes, pricing, and agreements
- Stay up to date with market trends, product developments, and technology roadmaps
- Provide ongoing product and sales training to Pinnacle employees
- Perform full reconciliations of Tactical Accounts Payable (AP) accounts
- Allocate and offset vendor credits accurately and within agreed timelines
- Investigate and resolve AP variances, including root-cause analysis and documentation
- Raise and manage vendor or internal disputes to resolution
- Reallocate losses or excess credits to the General Ledger (GL) with approval
- Maintain audit trails and comply with finance governance, audit, and control requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, retailers, customers, and internal stakeholders
- Align strategically with HP and retailers to support business objectives
- Liaise with suppliers for promotional funding and materials
- Engage customers to understand requirements and incorporate insights into forecasting
Core Competencies:
- Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Must have MS Excel Skills at a minimum of an Intermediate level and be able to use formula, calculations, pivot tables and V-Lookups in a spreadsheet
- Strategic thinker with strong planning and execution skills
- Excellent verbal and written business communication skills
- Able to complete basic calculations (ability to work with numbers)
- Organized individual who is deadline driven with good time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good attention to detail
- Proven administration skills
Qualifications:
- Matric, preferably with mathematics
- A tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma in Sales, Marketing, or Finance will be an advantage
Experience:
- Proven administration skills
- Proven track record of sales success (preferably within the ICT Distribution industry)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Product Manager
- Working experience in a customer service environment
- Experience building relationships both externally and internally
- Prior experience working in a target driven position (minimum of three years)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a logistics environment
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience collaborating with sales teams
- Previous experience selling and working with customers at all levels of an organization including high-profile customers
