About the job Operations Assistant
Job Summary:
As an Operations Assistant in our logistics department, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our logistics team. You will assist in coordinating transportation, managing inventory, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials to support our mining operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative support to the logistics department, including data entry, filing, and document management.
2. Assist in coordinating transportation logistics, including scheduling deliveries and communicating with suppliers and transportation companies.
3. Assist in monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with procurement to ensure adequate stock levels of mining materials.
4. Assist in preparing shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
5. Assist in tracking shipments and updating shipment status in the inventory management system.
6. Assist in resolving any issues or delays in transportation and delivery, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
7. Assist in analyzing data and preparing reports to track logistics performance and identify areas for improvement.
8. Collaborate with other departments, including procurement, operations, and maintenance, to support mining operations and project timelines.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Logistics Department Manager.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably in a logistics or supply chain environment.
2. Basic knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles.
3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office software.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy.
8. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with inventory management software.
2. Familiarity with shipping documents and procedures.
3. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the logistics industry.
4. Experience working in the mining or heavy industry sector.
