Job Description:
As an IoT Engineer specializing in the mining industry, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining IoT solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety protocols, and environmental monitoring within our mining operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate IoT devices, sensors, and data analytics platforms, driving actionable insights and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
1. IoT Solution Design: Design end-to-end IoT solutions tailored to the unique requirements of mining operations, including sensor selection, connectivity protocols, data acquisition systems, and cloud-based platforms.
2. Device Integration: Collaborate with hardware vendors and internal teams to integrate IoT devices and sensors into mining equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure, ensuring seamless data collection and transmission.
3. Data Management: Develop data management strategies to handle large volumes of sensor data generated by IoT devices, including data storage, preprocessing, and real-time analytics.
4. Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures to protect IoT infrastructure from cyber threats and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., Mine Safety and Health Administration guidelines).
5. Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor the performance of IoT systems deployed across mining sites, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and optimize reliability.
6. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging IoT technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and recommend innovations to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience 4 years in designing and implementing IoT solutions, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Proficiency in IoT protocols and technologies (e.g., MQTT, LoRaWAN, Zigbee), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub), and data analytics tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and protocols, with experience in securing IoT infrastructure and data.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
