Job Summary:
As an Assistant Purchasing Officer in our procurement department, you will play a key role in supporting the purchasing activities of the department. You will assist the Purchasing Officer in sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating the best quality goods and services for our company at the most competitive prices.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Purchasing Officer in sourcing, selecting, and negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best quality goods and services at the most competitive prices.
2. Review and analyze purchase requisitions, identify suitable suppliers, and assist in preparing purchase orders.
3. Monitor and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
4. Assist in resolving any issues or discrepancies with orders, invoices, or deliveries.
5. Assist in maintaining and updating supplier information, including price lists, catalogs, and contracts.
6. Assist in evaluating supplier performance and conducting supplier audits as needed.
7. Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within the procurement function.
8. Assist in ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
9. Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, operations, and finance, to support company objectives and project timelines.
10. Assist in staying current with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in procurement.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably in a procurement or supply chain environment.
2. Basic knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.
3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office software.
9. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certification in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
2. Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
3. Familiarity with contract management and supplier relationship management.
4. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
