About the role

Vega Federal Solutions is hiring multiple Principal Software Engineers to build and modernize full stack applications supporting critical national security missions. We have several openings across different tech stacks, including Java and React, Python, and roles open to either Python or Java. You will build web services, databases, and microservices on high impact systems for the Intelligence Community. These are senior technical roles for engineers who have done the work, can lead a team, and want their code to matter.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and deploy full stack applications in your stack, whether that is Java and React, Python, or either Python or Java, along with web services, relational databases, and microservice architecture. Lead agile development efforts as a scrum or team lead, drive CI/CD and test driven development practices, and partner with stakeholders to turn mission needs into working software.

What you bring

You will need one of the following:

• A Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, plus 13 years of full stack development experience
• Or 15 years of full stack development experience in place of a degree

On top of that, we are looking for:

• Hands on experience in at least four of these: Python, Java, or React enterprise development; web services architecture; relational database design; spatial or NoSQL database design; microservice architecture; containerization and orchestration; API development; and cloud native development (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar)
• 5 or more years with agile and lean practices, including at least 2 years as a scrum or team lead
• Experience with CI/CD, test driven development, and automated testing

Nice to have

Experience building geospatial and GIS solutions, work with imagery products including SAR or RADAR, and experience developing terrain analysis, automated detection, or spatial analysis algorithms using tools like PostGIS, ArcGIS, or Oracle Spatial.

Clearance

TS/SCI preferred.
