About the Role

  • We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Database Engineer to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL development including PL/Sql, PostgreSQL, and Python scripting to support data-intensive applications. This role requires designing and optimizing databases, building data pipelines, and studying the customer data models to map/ingest into new products hosted on AWS cloud.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and optimize PostgreSQL databases for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, procedures, views, and triggers to support application requirements.
  • Write Python or sql scripts for database automation, ETL processes, and data validation.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to define database strategies and data models.
  • Lead Source system data model study activities, including mapping, transformation, and validation of legacy data to new portals/products.
  • Ensure high availability, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for database environments.
  • Monitor and tune performance using database metrics, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards in handling sensitive data.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience as a Database Engineer/Administrator/Developer.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) with proven ability to optimize queries and schema design.
  • Hands-on experience with Python
  • Good understanding of data modeling, normalization, and relational database design principles.
  • Experience in performance tuning (indexes, partitions, query optimization).
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience in data migration projects, especially migrating existing customers to new portals/products.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Airflow, AWS Glue, dbt).
  • Understanding of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB) as a complement to relational systems.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices for CI/CD integration of database changes.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Exposure to AWS database services (RDS for PostgreSQL, EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC.).
