VEA Civils, a division of VEA Group Limited, is an expanding civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the UK Water Sector. Due to continued business growth and an increasing project workload, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Civils Supervisor to join our delivery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects who is looking to develop their career within a growing and ambitious organisation.
The Role
As a Civils Supervisor, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of civil engineering projects, overseeing site operations, coordinating site teams, and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The role will involve supervising activities across a range of clean water and wastewater projects, with particular emphasis on deep excavations, temporary works, utility infrastructure and associated civil engineering operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day site operations and workforce activities.
- Coordinate operatives, subcontractors, plant, materials and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and daily task briefings.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to Site Managers and Project Managers.
- Oversee excavation works and ensure activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Temporary Works on site.
- Carry out site inspections and quality checks to ensure works meet project specifications.
- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture across all site activities.
- Liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, suppliers and internal project teams.
Essential Experience
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Civils Supervisor, Foreperson, Ganger or similar supervisory role within Civil Engineering.
- Experience working on Clean Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of deep excavation works and associated safety controls.
- Experience supervising Temporary Works activities.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- NRSWA Supervisor Street Works Qualification
- Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS)
- EUSR SHEA Water
- National Water Hygiene Card
- First Aid at Work
- Manual Handling
- CAT & Genny Training
