About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Credit Underwriter to support a leading Australian fintech lender focused on sustainable home improvement and consumer financing. This role ideal for professionals with strong AU credit experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage application workflows end-to-end.

You'll play a critical role in assessing and finalizing loan applications, liaising with applicants and vendor partners, and ensuring decisions comply with credit policies and lending regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess Credit Applications: Review submitted documents for completeness and eligibility; identify any gaps or risks and apply appropriate decision-making based on internal credit policy and DLA thresholds.
  • Follow Through on Incomplete Applications: Communicate with applicants and vendors to collect missing documents and ensure files are complete before final credit decisioning.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Handle inbound and outbound queries from applicants and vendor partners via phone, email, and support platforms; provide timely updates on application status.
  • Use of Credit Tools:
    • Access and interpret Equifax reports for credit risk analysis
    • Verify property details via RP Data (CoreLogic)
    • Manage application lifecycle using platforms such as Zendesk, Genesys, and FinPower
  • Compliance & Policy Adherence: Apply consistent credit decisioning aligned with AU lending standards and responsible lending obligations.
  • Maintain Audit Trails: Record decisions, document justifications, and keep systems updated to ensure clear compliance and reporting visibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in credit underwriting or lending operations within the Australian finance or fintech industry
  • Strong preference for candidates who have previously held a Delegated Lending Authority (DLA)
  • Familiar with Equifax, RP Data, and Australian credit reporting practices
  • Comfortable using platforms such as Zendesk, Genesys, and FinPower
  • High attention to detail, with strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Able to work independently and maintain high service levels in a remote setting
  • Experience in home improvement, solar, or consumer finance is a plus
