About the Role

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records in accordance with Australian accounting standards and business requirements. This includes managing general ledger activities, preparing reconciliations, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with tax and reporting obligations. The role works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver clear, compliant, and data-driven financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory filings in line with ATO requirements.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and ensure proper capitalization.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and intercompany account reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit queries.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for internal management and compliance needs.
  • Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and classified in accordance with Australian accounting standards.
  • Act as Back-up on any AR and AP Task
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, or tax agents when required.
  • Collaborate with payroll, accounts payable, and procurement teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards) is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in general accounting, ideally supporting Australian entities.
  • Solid understanding of Australian tax regulations, ATO compliance, and GST/BAS preparation.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or outsourcing setup is an advantage.
