About the job AU Accountant
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance (Australian Taxation Office - ATO):
Prepare and file individual, sole trader, partnership, company, and trust tax returns in accordance with Australian tax regulations (excluding SMSF).
Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax documents to meet ATO requirements
Financial Reporting (Australian Accounting Standards):
Generate financial statements for clients, prepare quarterly and monthly management reports.
BAS & IAS Preparation (ATO Compliance):
Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) monthly or quarterly, ensuring compliance with ATO guidelines.
Superannuation Calculations:
Calculate superannuation liabilities accurately and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Technology Integration:
Preferably possess knowledge of the DEXT platform for efficient data extraction.
Comfortable working with Google Workspace; familiarity is preferred, though not essential.
Microsoft Office Proficiency:
Utilize Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, for various accounting and financial analysis tasks.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay updated on tax laws, regulations, and industry changes to ensure compliance in all financial activities.
Adaptability to Varied Responsibilities:
Undertake other duties as required, showcasing adaptability and a proactive approach to fulfilling additional responsibilities that contribute to the team's overall success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field
- Must have at least 4-5 years AU Accountant experience
- Advanced proficiency in Australian business taxation, GST, and payroll processes
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, MYOB, Xero and Microsoft Office 365
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a remote or virtual work environment is a plus
- XERO Certified Advisor are preferred but not required
