Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with optional overtime and call-out rota)

We are currently seeking an experienced HIU Engineer to work with a well-established mechanical and electrical services provider that operates across residential, commercial, and district heating networks. This company specialises in maintaining and servicing Heat Interface Units (HIUs), communal heating systems, and plant rooms, ensuring energy efficiency and optimal performance for clients.

The Role What Youll Be Doing

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of HIUs, including both indirect and direct units.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in communal and district heating systems, including pipework, valves, pumps, and expansion vessels.
• Conduct essential inspections and compliance checks, ensuring systems meet industry regulations and efficiency standards.
• Undertake installation and commissioning of HIUs and associated heating components.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on heat interface units.
• Work alongside BMS and controls engineers to optimise heating performance.
• Provide expert guidance and recommendations to clients on system improvements and energy efficiency.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard while maintaining health and safety compliance.
• Use a PDA system to record job reports, asset details, and service history.
• Participate in an on-call rota to attend emergency call-outs when required.

What Were Looking For
Qualifications:

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating, Mechanical Engineering, or HVAC (essential).
• Unvented Hot Water Certification (G3) (essential).
• WRAS Water Regulations (preferred).
• ACS Gas qualifications (desirable but not essential).
• Legionella Awareness Training (advantageous).

Experience & Skills:

• Minimum three years experience working on HIUs, communal heating, or district heating systems.
• Strong understanding of direct and indirect HIU systems.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heating system faults.
• Knowledge of pressure testing, pipework modifications, and balancing heating systems.
• Understanding of energy efficiency regulations and best practices.
• Experience with plate heat exchangers, pumps, and pressurisation units.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
• Confident using PDA and reporting systems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
