Air Source Heat Pump Service and Breakdown Engineer

Location: Cardiff and South Wales
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000, depending on experience
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Valoris Group is recruiting an experienced Air Source Heat Pump Service and Breakdown Engineer for an established renewable heating specialist based in Cardiff.

The company designs, installs, services and maintains domestic air and ground source heat pump systems throughout South Wales. Due to continued growth, it is looking to strengthen its existing team of nine engineers.

This position will focus primarily on servicing, fault-finding and repairing air source heat pump systems within private domestic properties. The company is flexible on the precise background of the successful candidate, provided they have strong heating knowledge and practical experience working with heat pumps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Servicing and maintaining domestic air source heat pump systems
  • Diagnosing faults and completing breakdown repairs
  • Carrying out electrical, hydraulic and system performance checks
  • Identifying defective components and completing repairs or replacements
  • Investigating issues relating to controls, circulation, flow temperatures and system pressure
  • Completing planned and reactive maintenance visits
  • Ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently
  • Providing clear advice and guidance to homeowners
  • Accurately recording completed work, findings and required follow-up actions
  • Liaising with the technical and installation teams when additional work is required
  • Delivering a professional and customer-focused service
  • Complying with relevant health and safety and industry standards

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience servicing or repairing air source heat pump systems
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability
  • Good understanding of domestic heating and hot water systems
  • Experience working with heating controls, pumps, cylinders and associated components
  • Relevant plumbing, heating or renewable energy qualifications
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work independently
  • Full UK driving licence

Applications may also be considered from experienced domestic heating or gas service engineers who have some practical heat pump experience and are looking to develop further within renewable heating.

Desirable Experience

  • Manufacturer training across leading heat pump brands
  • BPEC, LCL Awards or equivalent heat pump qualification
  • F-Gas certification
  • Unvented hot water qualification
  • Experience with Vaillant air source heat pump systems
  • Experience commissioning or installing heat pumps
  • Relevant domestic gas qualifications
