About the job Geoscientist

::: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :::

Appraisal

  • Provide Geophysical input to all appraisal activities for specified assets from handover from Exploration team (i.e. immediately post discovery) to end of Assess Phase.
  • Define appraisal strategy / plan incl data acquisition requirements).
  • Provide input to and build appropriate static models of any discovery.
  • Mature and secure approvals for appraisal data acquisition (e.g., wells and seismic programs).
  • Acquire data and evaluate results including updates of field models including a demonstration of project feasibility.

3D Seismic Interpretation

  • Conduct more detailed and extensive 3D seismic interpretation on any discoveries to assess the potential discovery more accurately.

Data Interpretation

  • Prepare structure maps for the top and base of the reservoir.
  • Prepare the depth conversion to enable calculation of oil and gas volumes and identification of value adding well targets.
  • Run special processing (pre-stacking version) to help identify reservoir character and find the sweet spots.
  • Undertake seismic attribute mapping e.g. provide direct hydrocarbon indicators based on the AVO (Amplitude vs Offset analysis) for effective decision-making process related to development and exploration tasks.
  • Assess the risk of proven, probable, and possible volumes of Oil and Gas in place.
  • Combine volumetrics with reservoir information to determine recovery value which issued for reservoir depletion or field development.

Well Design and Plotting

  • Design well profiles using seismic data.
  • Determine shallow gas assessment and detect possible hazards for drilling.
  • Support drilling activities to provide a suitable well profile.
  • Provide design for horizontal drilling (which is more complex than vertical drilling to develop a drilling plan.

Geological Data Interpretation & Reservoir Mapping

  • Provide input to geological and reservoir models.
  • Produce field reservoir maps over key reservoirs, including gross and net sand thickness, net to gross, porosity, and Sw.
  • Collect and analyze development well geological data.
  • Development and exploration well correlations.

Drilling Support

  • Monitor the wells during drilling activity to determine whether it meets development/appraisal objectives and to address drilling issues that may arise during drilling.

Leadership

  • Setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating junior staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal in order to maximize Asset and departmental performance.
  • Thorough understanding of the Geophysics risks & technical issues associated with sub-surface and surface development opportunities.
  • Capable of understanding and helping to enable the implementation of new Geophysics standards, procedures, and guidelines in Development work.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Monitor compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of engineering activity to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
