About the job Principal Physics Analyst

X Corporation (Nasdaq: X), a market leader in MEMS timing, offers MEMS-based silicon timing system solutions. X configurable solutions offer a rich feature set that enables customers to differentiate their products with high performance, small size, low power, and high reliability. With over 2 billion devices shipped to date, X is changing the timing industry.

As a Principal Physics Analyst, you will be pushing the boundaries of contemporary simulation of world- class MEMS resonators for ultra-precise timing applications. Development of MEMS resonators requires simulation in multiple physical domains including mechanics, electrostatics and electrodynamics, thermodynamics, and solid-state physics. As a Principal Physics Analyst, you will be responsible for analysis of predictive capabilities of our simulation tools, investigation of key sources of simulation-vs- experiment mismatch (including design of experiments for better understanding of relevant effects) and making proposals on improvements of our simulation tools. We are looking for a person capable of working with extremely complex systems with numerous cross-effects and analysis of third- and fourth- order effects for ultra-precise simulations. Results of your work will affect billions of devices within next years.

Responsibilities:
• Analysis of predictive capabilities of in-house simulation tools and systematization of this knowledge.
• Inventing concepts of the test structures and designs of experiments.
• Analysis of the simulation tools; validation of the explicit and implicit assumptions; analysis of measurement techniques.
• Analysis of the experimental data.
• Making proposals on improvements of the simulation tools with respect to the company product development plans.
• Hiring and management of small team of 1-2 engineers to help with the above responsibilities.

Qualifications & Requirements:
• PhD in Physics or equivalent.
• Strong Mathematics: linear algebra, statistics, operator theory, computational methods, cost-function optimization techniques.
• Coding skills sufficient for complicated scripting, automation of data analysis, and visualization of results. Preferably Python or MATLAB.
• Experience with analysis of experimental data and understanding of related challenges.
• Passion for working on challenging physical problems and complex multi-factor systems.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; clear scientific communication; responsibility within functional role.
