Role Overview

The Mechanical Project Manager provides overall management direction on one or more mechanical construction projects valued up to $10 million, with full accountability for scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety. The role assumes primary leadership for each assigned project in partnership with the designated project superintendent, and develops new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, industry, or geographical area.

Balancing hands-on project execution with client and team leadership, the Project Manager drives profitable delivery from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating estimating, procurement, engineering, fabrication, and field operations. This is an office-based role in the DFW Metroplex with regular presence at project sites.

This role may be filled at varying levels based on the candidate's skills, experience, and overall qualifications. Final title, level, and compensation will be determined through the interview and assessment process and will be aligned with internal equity and external market benchmarks.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management direction on one or more mechanical construction projects valued up to $10 million, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety objectives are met
  • Assume primary project leadership in partnership with the designated project superintendent and key project personnel
  • Evaluate the scope of work and analyze project alternatives, such as material specifications and construction methods, to develop optimal construction techniques
  • Coordinate with project superintendents and the fabrication department on prefabrication possibilities and alternatives before and during construction
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with clients and A/E contacts to facilitate successful construction activities
  • Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts, and manage subcontractor and vendor performance
  • Prepare, issue, and update the master project schedule and variance reports to keep the project on schedule and within budget
  • Manage the financial aspects of contracts, including costs, billings, and collections, to maintain profitability and positive cash flow
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and project documentation through closeout and as-built delivery
  • Develop new business opportunities and lead and mentor assistant project managers, project engineers, and field supervision
  • Manage project risks and ensure compliance with safety programs, contract terms, and applicable codes and standards

Required Background

  • 4-year mechanical engineering or construction science degree, or commensurate levels of technical training and related experience
  • 5 + years of mechanical construction project management experience, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or data center projects
  • Proven ability to manage scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety on projects up to $10 million
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, HVAC, and piping systems, construction methods, procurement practices, and applicable codes and standards
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and change management
  • Ability to negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts
  • Demonstrated ability to develop client and A/E relationships and new business opportunities
  • Excellent MS Office skills and the ability and desire to learn new software systems
  • OSHA-30 certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Experience with design-build or design-assist mechanical delivery (Preferred)
  • Hyperscale data center, hospital, life sciences, or semiconductor project experience (Preferred)
  • PMP or relevant professional certification (Preferred)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish (Preferred)
