Role Overview

The Detailing Lead partners with internal departments and external customers to oversee and manage the constructability phase of projects, implementing the company's construction standards for all projects through the detailing process. The role is accountable for leading constructability on assigned projects, typically smaller and less complex in scope.

Working closely with the design and modeling group, the Detailing Lead brings constructability knowledge into the model early to minimize rework, leads the final trade coordination and sign-off process with the General Contractor, manages the resources assigned to the project, and carries cost accountability.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Accountable for leading constructability on generally smaller less-complex assigned projects
  2. Partners with the design and modeling group to incorporate constructability knowledge in a timely manner to minimize model rework
  3. Leads communication between the project team members to ensure a successful product; ensures concerns are addressed and resolved
  4. Provides material, content and feedback to applicable team members as needed
  5. Leads the final trade coordination and sign-off process on the project working in conjunction with the General Contractor
  6. Contributes to design pull schedule to direct the model development to meet deliverables
  7. Manages resources assigned to the project
  8. Participates in conceptual design efforts to promote modular construction and constructability standards
  9. Assists with budget and has cost accountability
  10. Performs additional assignments as requested/needed

Required Background

  1. BS or BA degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent trade apprenticeship, training and experience
  2. 5+ years relevant experience, including people and project management experience
  3. Field experience preferred
  4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents
  6. Current knowledge of Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods
  7. Attention to detail
  8. Ability to coordinate projects
  9. Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  10. Ability to interpret the construction schedule to integrate a design pull schedule
  11. Knowledge of relevant systems, including Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD
