About the job Accounting Analyst
Our company is growing rapidly and is looking to fill the role of Accounting Analyst, who is motivated by innovation and excited by the opportunity to implement new accounting systems and processes. The Accounting Analyst will primarily function as the day-to-day accountant for the newly formed logistics company, as well as supporting other finance and accounting functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.
· Procure and implement the accounting system for the new logistics company.
· Design accounting policies and procedures for management approval.
· Maintain clear and accurate accounting records.
· Process and account for cash payments and receipts.
· Responsible for month-end closing
· Liaise and interface regularly with the logistics company management and executive team.
· Effectively leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
· Perform cost analysis, identify and investigate irregularities/abnormalities and report to management.
· Prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP and the accounting policies established by the companies.
· Prepare state and local tax compliance and handle tax audits.
· Perform account reconciliation to ensure balances are correct.
· Review accounts to understand and resolve unusual items and variances.
· Provide support and necessary documents for annual external audit.
· Work collaboratively with other finance and accounting personnel.
· Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, including ad hoc reports and analyses.
· Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
Qualifications for Accounting Analyst
· Resiliency to test new technology and utilizing it to improve efficiency
· Strong critical thinking skills and understanding of basic accounting concepts (e.g. debits and credits)
· Strong competency in writing memos and emails clearly and on point
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
· Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations quickly and utilize information in written reports
· Comfortable preparing, delivering reports to management, both in writing and verbally
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in accounting AND 4 to 6 years of full-time accounting experience. Previous experience at public accounting firms or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) title is strongly preferred.
