The primary responsibility of the Maintenance and Engineering Manager is to lead the maintenance and engineering functions at the site, ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, utility management, and capital project execution. This role directly supports safe, efficient, and cost-effective chemical manufacturing operations in alignment with company goals and industry standards.

Essential Functions

Lead and develop the sites maintenance team, including mechanics, electricians, and contractors.
Oversee all maintenance activities including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure maximum uptime and regulatory compliance.
Manage the sites utility systems (e.g., wastewater treatment, fire suppression, compressed air), ensuring high reliability and cost control.
Maintain compliance with all regulatory and safety standards including OSHA, EPA, PSM, and ISO 9001.
Plan, manage, design, and execute capital projects, including budgeting, CAR submission, scheduling, and implementation.
Support DCS/PLC system maintenance and troubleshooting in collaboration with engineering and operations teams.
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and uptime.
Lead contractor oversight and the sites contractor management program.
Partner with other departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations, safety, and quality.

Education and Experience Required

Bachelors degree in mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance or engineering management, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Capital project management experience (>$100K projects preferred).

Strong working knowledge of PSM, EHS, and ISO 9001 systems.

Experience with DCS/PLC systems and process control environments.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position directly supervises site maintenance staff and external contractors and plays a key role in mentoring technical employees and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

This job operates in both office and plant environments. The role requires routine use of standard office equipment and regular exposure to industrial production settings.
