About the Team

The Online Banking & Brokerage team is responsible for the digital customer access channels and services of a leading European financial institution. Our application portfolio consists of modern cloud-driven online banking and brokerage customer services, administration frontends used by internal employees, and further customer-oriented innovative solutions. We work in an agile environment with a focus on customer centricity, outstanding user experience, and high reusability and flexibility of technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overarching implementation and operation of the Online Banking platform on Google Cloud, based on the 'you build it, you run it' paradigm. 
  • Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and enable an end-to-end view on customer satisfaction through Service Level Indicators (SLIs). 
  • Collaborate with Business Functional Analysts and Solution Architects to improve solution design and resilience. 
  • Consult and guide squads on prioritisation of reliability improvements and actively deliver them as part of sprints.
  • Implement reliability and resilience patterns: auto-scaling, circuit breakers, bulkheads, rate limiters, retry mechanisms. 
  • Work on service request fulfilment, incident and problem management to reduce toil and MTTR. 
  • Align and contribute on SRE best practices: Distributed Tracing, OpenTelemetry, and Chaos Engineering. 
  • Lead the SRE chapter function, fostering a culture of high standards. 
  • Mentor and develop the Site Reliability Engineer population.

Skills & Experience

  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, and GKE; Terraform or similar IaC. 
  • Experience in resilient software development in Python/Java and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, Helm). 
  • Strong experience in observability, monitoring, and self-healing solutions: New Relic, Splunk, GCP Operations, Lightstep, Ansible. 
  • Very good knowledge of security standards: TLS, OAuth2, KMS, Vault, Admission Controllers. 
  • Experience with microservice architectures and API Management (Apigee or WSO2). 
  • Proactive, collaborative team player mindset paired with self-confidence. 
  • Excellent English communication skills.
