Job Openings D365 F&O WMS Developer

About the job D365 F&O WMS Developer

About the job

We're looking for a D365 F&O WMS Developer (B2B/contract) to help stabilise and harden an existing Warehouse Management implementation for an energy/utilities client.

The client already has a D365 F&O WMS implementation in place — built by another vendor — but it isn't behaving correctly. CGTL is taking over the codebase, and this role is at the centre of that handover: reviewing what's there, understanding why it doesn't match intended warehouse processes, and fixing it to a high standard.

This is a development-plus-QA role rather than a new build. The value you bring is stabilising and hardening inherited work — not designing warehouse processes from scratch. Functional consultants are available for solution clarification, so you'll collaborate on business decisions rather than own them alone.

Your role with us:

-You'll review and reverse-engineer an existing, largely undocumented WMS codebase to understand current behaviour.

-You'll diagnose and fix bugs at the root cause, not just patch symptoms.

-You'll take ownership of code quality and test coverage, while collaborating with functional consultants on business intent.

What you'll actually do:

Understand what's actually there

-Conduct a structured review of the existing D365 F&O WMS codebase.

-Analyse current behaviour against intended warehouse processes — inbound, outbound, picking, put-away, wave/load, mobile device flows.

-Relate code behaviour back to real WHS module configuration and process design.

Test and fix with discipline

-Write and run tests against defined quality standards.

-Diagnose root cause in inherited code rather than patching symptoms.

-Develop X++ extensions and fixes that bring the implementation up to a high-quality standard.

Collaborate, don't own it alone

-Work with functional consultants for solution clarification on business intent.

-Document findings clearly so decisions and fixes are traceable.

-Participate in code reviews and technical decisions as the codebase stabilises.

What we're looking for:

X++ development in D365 F&O (extension model). Code-base review experience — reading, assessing, and reverse-engineering existing/undocumented code.

QA discipline — writing and running tests, working to defined quality standards.

Bug analysis & fixing — diagnosing root cause in inherited code, not just patching symptoms.

WMS / WHS module knowledge — able to relate code behaviour back to warehouse processes (inbound, outbound, picking, put-away, wave/load, mobile device flows).

Comfort collaborating with functional consultants for solution clarification.

Nice to have:

-Test automation / regression testing in F&O.

-Warehouse mobile app configuration

-Performance tuning of WMS processes.

-Azure DevOps CI/CD, LCS build pipelines, code-quality tooling.

-Experience specifically taking over / remediating another vendor's implementation.

Additional notes:

Quick screening process — a short set of technical questions upfront, feedback fast.

This is a stabilisation and hardening engagement, not a new build — expect codebase archaeology as much as new development.

Start: August/September 2026, running until at least the end of the year, with an extension beyond December expected.

Capacity: full-time or a strong part-timer — open to either.

Seniority: medior+ to senior profiles only.

Working language: English assumed; Dutch is a plus given the client contex
