We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Veterinary Technician to join our team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the veterinary technician team, ensuring top-notch patient care, and maintaining a high standard of excellence in all clinical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a passion for animal health and welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and mentor the veterinary technician team.
- Schedule and assign tasks to ensure smooth workflow and coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Patient Care:
- Oversee and assist with the preparation, monitoring, and recovery of animals during surgical and medical procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Ensure accurate patient records and proper documentation of procedures.
- Clinic Operations:
- Maintain and manage medical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory levels.
- Assist in developing and updating clinic protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards in all areas of the clinic.
- Client Interaction:
- Educate clients on post-treatment care, preventive care, and medication administration.
- Address client concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Emergency Care:
- Provide immediate and efficient support during emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Licensed or certified veterinary technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in veterinary medicine, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in animal restraint, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and laboratory testing.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Passionate about providing high-quality care for animals.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including evenings and weekends if needed.
- Physical stamina to lift animals and stand for extended periods.
