POSITION SUMMARY:

Supporting a Company wide facilities portfolio, manages, coordinates, and maintains environmental, health, safety, and security programs and procedures with the aim of eliminating incidents, preventing property loss and damage, and preventing harm to the employees and the environment. Responsible for employee safety awareness and training, industrial hygiene testing, needs assessment for OSHA and EPA compliance, hazardous waste disposal, and security/fire systems. Interfaces directly with business unit managers and leaders, and executive staff on Environmental Health and Safety issues. Tracks, reports, and is accountable for employee safety related programs and incidents. Manages a direct report from the EHS department. The  company expert in Environmental Health and Safety issues. Responsible for the company wide creation and management of  company EHS strategic plans, policies, and implementation of these programs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates, participates, and leads the Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates all safety and environmental training, including but not limited to Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, CPR/First Aid, Ergonomics, and other training required by OSHA and EPA.
  • Maintains an inventory list of hazardous chemicals and coordinates the maintenance and distribution of Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Develops and coordinates the maintenance of accident and chemical databases.
  • Coordinates compliance with state, and local environmental regulations etc.
  • Interfaces with outside agencies such as OSHA, EPA, Fire Authority etc.
  • Responsible for internal reports including budgets and monthly activity reports.
  • Performs ergonomic audits and recommends ergonomic equipment to prevent and reduce injuries.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents and recommends corrective actions.
  • Coordinates and implements the emergency response plan.
  • Responsible for security and fire systems, including Card Access, outside security services, burglar alarm systems, and fire alarms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and requirements.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Skilled professionalism, responsiveness, dedication to the program success, and relationship building.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • 3+ years experience in related fields such as Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environment.

EDUCATION:

Essential:

  • BS degree in Health Science/Industrial Hygiene, Physical Sciences, or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
