How You Spend Your Eight Hours
- Reconcile FACS balance to the client system
- Ensure proper crediting in FACS for payments posted
- Use websites and other online resources to obtain the status of payment or denial from the insurance carrier
- When online resources are not available or do not provide the necessary information, call the insurance carrier to inquire about the status of payment or denial
- Input in FACS the outcome of the status check and decide the next step on the account based on outlined department and client-specific procedures
- Review correspondence, note accounts, and follow up as needed
- Verify that correspondence is sent to be scanned on the accounts for future reference
- Tie or untie accounts from the route to ensure they follow the proper workflow
- Use appropriate work queues and reports to prioritize work efforts, as directed by the Insurance Follow-up Manager
- Maintain quality customer service
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with insurance company representatives
- Maintain confidentiality at all times by adhering to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
- Support the mission and goals of our clients and the company
What You Must Possess
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to learn multiple databases
- Multitasking skills
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility
- Ability to perform repeated tasks with a high level of accuracy
- Compliance with company and client-specific procedures for insurance follow-ups
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and Red Flag regulations
- Healthcare BPO experience (minimum of 6 months)
