About the job Piping & Welding Inspector
Job summary:
- Inspection at Material Receipt, in processes like fit-up, welding, NDT and Hydro testing.
- Review of Isometric drawings for the piping and mechanical installation to ensure that the latest revision of isometric is included in the work pack.
- Inspect welded joints, connections, and structures to verify compliance with welding codes, standards, and specifications.
- Ensure welds are free from defects and conform to required quality standards.
- Collaborate with Fab Shop personnel and welders to ensure proper welding techniques are followed and quality is maintained.
- Conduct visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing (NDT) to assess weld integrity.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, test results, and certifications.
- Generate inspection reports detailing defects, corrective actions, and compliance status.
- Verify that welding materials, consumables, and equipment used meet specified standards and requirements.
- Ensure that welding practices adhere to safety protocols and regulations, minimizing the risk of accidents and hazards.
- Review and approve welding procedures, ensuring they align with industry codes and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to address welding-related issues and provide recommendations.
- Provide guidance to welders and personnel on proper welding techniques, safety practices, and quality control measures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and share best practices to enhance welding quality and efficiency.
- Stay updated on international and local welding codes and standards applicable to the shipping industry. Requirements
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and quality control standards.
- Shall conduct work in-process inspection and co-ordinate with other agencies for final inspection as required by the contract.
- Coordinate Third Party Inspection at works arranged by Client.
- shall ensure that all fabricated items are dispatched only after fulfilling the Quality Control requirement and approval of the same by concerned Client/Consultant representatives
HSE Responsibility:
- Lead the business unit on HSE.
- Participate in regular HSE inspections at sites and enhance safety culture of team members.
- Ensure HSE standards are maintained and implemented for departments activities
- Education:
- BE or Diploma.
- Experience:
- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with CSWIP / AWS-CWI & minimum 5 years experience in QA / QC Welding works for Refinery / Petrochemical / Oil & Gas Projects
- Certification as a Welding Inspector (CSWIP, AWS, or equivalent) is required.
- NDT Level II in UT, RT, LPT & MPI
