Unitalent Consultancy OÜ, in partnership with Flatworld, is helping a well funded early-stage startup search for an Engineering Manager/Tech Lead. The candidate must be based in Poland.


Rate range: 52-60 USD/hour

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4-5 software engineers.
  • Contribute 50-60% of your time to non-blocking software development.
  • Drive the proper SDLC process within the team.
  • Partner and coordinate effectively with the product team and broader engineering team based in the US.
  • Support their product in production.
  • Handle ambiguity well, bringing stability and consistency to the team.
  • Be comfortable learning new technologies and responsibilities, helping to unblock and advance the team.
  • Be excited to work in an early-stage startup, impacting the team and company with your contributions.

Requirements

  • 7 - 8 years in software development
  • At least 4 - 5 years at a product development company and on a particular product of a company that is customer-facing.
  • Highly proficient in backend node.js development at least 2 - 3 years of commercial experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience as a technical lead responsible for the team's technical designs, architecture, and code quality.
  • Fullstack engineer but more comfortable and focused on the backend.
  • 5 years of experience with relational databases
  • Experience in supporting SaaS applications in production.

Management Experience

  • 2 - 3 years managing a team of 4 - 7 people.
  • Experience in going through at least 2 years of performance management cycles.
  • Experience hiring and managing out.
  • Ideally, some experience leading scrum, wont be needed on day one but eventually.
  • Experience contributing to creating engineering roadmaps and product roadmaps.

Bonus points if you have 

  • Some start-up experience and larger company experience from US based companies in Europe.
  • Experience with some infrastructure in Google Cloud (GCP)
  • Worked on a sales/marketing product or an outbound sales engagement product.
  • Worked on a product that used machine learning
