POSITION PURPOSE

Serves as a fully capable professional who plans, organizes and manages the design process to bring about the successful completion of medium to large scale projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Develops design programs in conjunction with Lead Designer and Discipline Leads and ensures execution of project deliverables are consistent with the Project Plan.

Ensures discipline project teams under their management comply with Project Execution Plans, including design management, project management and are adhered to throughout the project delivery process.

Manages design procedures - information exchange MOM / issue logs / RFI s.

Schedules weekly design coordination meetings.

Confirms with Lead Designer co-ordination issues are resolved (Through use of task log or similar tracking tools) and discuss complex details and equipment, providing solutions based on discussions with experts, project managers, site engineers & industry leaders.

Reviews scope of work, roles & responsibilities, and deliverables prepared by discipline leads to check alignment and consistency with Client and contract requirements.

Assists the PM with controlling change.

Responsible for periodic project progress reports to senior management.

Responsible for defining the quality budget and schedule for completing the technical quality review on deliverables

Assist the FF&E designer by conducting meetings with suppliers, checking the finishes are align with the design and project BOQ, Coordinate with suppliers about cost and lead time of materials and propose alternative options in accordance with design specification

Coordinate with designers / commercial / procurement teams for all specified and proposed materials

Assist the lead designers / FF&E designer in studying the project and come up with solutions for value engineering options in line with the design / BOQ and client design brief

Organizes own and others work to achieve set deadlines

Responsible for the completeness & accuracy of own work.

Responsible for the preparation and compilation of design scope / status reporting to PM.

Contribute to design management input at early design phases and during the course of projects.

Reviews tender submissions for construction works, contributes to Tender Report prepared by PM.

Maintain and keep track of Design department Management Procedures.

Planning and monitoring others work to achieve set deadlines

Manages the assigned team of senior technical designers / FF&E designers on a day to day basis and ensures design scope compliance is achieved throughout.

Manages design scope on medium to large scale projects or particular packages for large, complex projects ensuring project scope and objectives are met.

Motivates team and facilitates them to bring ideas and solutions to the table.

Routinely interacts with clients, contractors and others using skills of persuasion and negotiation to resolvecritical issues.

Promotes teamwork within design team, maintaining positive moral and instilling a productive culture within the team

Ensures, directly and through subordinates, that project scope is completed and meets all requirements of the Design Brief

Lead design and built internal and 3rd party projects

Attending client meetings, discuss project details requirements and gain client approvals of the design

Communicating design approvals with landlords and make sure the design is in correspondence with landlord design guidelines / LODs and site.

Evaluating design packages according to standard methodologies and policies of the firm, landlord design guidelines, authorities regulations as well as the project contract.

Attending site visits, coordinated site meetings with all other subcontractors and consultants and coordinate with Lead designer on the necessary changes to the approved shop drawing based on sitecondition and dimensions prior to production / construction.

Attending internal weekly meetings with lead designer and operations team.

Manage the lead designer and make sure that required coordination is in place for MEP & ID Design/Shop Drawing

Receive and track IFC Design drawings from consultant & analyze the scope of work in respect with the contract Bill of quantities

Maintain design procedures and protocols to be followed by the Design Team for successful project delivery including project scope, requirements, deadlines, digital design management systems and tools.

Produce an integrated design schedule using MS Project or Primavera following liaison with all Design Team members including key milestones laid out by the client. Internal milestones, co-ordination sequences and delivery dates.

Monitor design progress and identify areas of risk / concern that are approaching.

This is a Client, PM and Lead Designer facing role and demonstrable skills in maintaining and developing both internal and external relationships are required.

QUALIFICATIONS\REQUIREMENTS:

Degree / Diploma in architecture or interior design

Minimum 4 years of experience in similar position

Expert in use of software: AutoCAD / Photoshop / Microsoft office
