JOB PURPOSE

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Engineering Services at the plant level. This includes coordinating engineering activities, designing, and implementing maintenance management programs, ensuring continuous improvement in the manufacturing operations.

KEY JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the implementation of preventive maintenance programs and provide regular reports on plant status.
  • Develop a training plan to enhance diagnostic and troubleshooting skills of plant electricians and mechanics, reducing machine downtime.
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for plant equipment, machinery, and facilities.
  • Monitor maintenance costs, analyze equipment performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting, OEM coordination, and prompt restoration of operation during breakdowns.
  • Develop a list of critical spare parts to prevent line stoppages.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify automation opportunities and improve process efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of utility systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement energy-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor and ensure seamless execution of annual maintenance and overhaul of critical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and enforce adherence to safety protocols.
  • Lead change management initiatives within the engineering/maintenance department.
  • Build and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Drive innovation in production equipment and processes, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Develop relationships with cross-functional teams and regulatory agencies.

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng.) or HND in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of relevant hands-on FMCG operation and maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' managerial experience in a beverage bottling company.
  • Budgeting and people management skills.
  • Knowledge of bottling operations, planning, manufacturing, quality, environment, engineering, health, and safety.
  • Familiarity with plant manufacturing operations and project planning.
  • Understanding of financial impact and cost benefits analysis.
  • CMRP certification or similar engineering certification is desirable.
