About the job Utilities Operator
JOB PURPOSE
The Utilities Operator is responsible for operation of utility plants and equipment; including water (various forms), CO2, steam, electrical systems, compressed air, cooling plant, and effluent treatment plant. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of utility services. To perform all types of operations and autonomous maintenance as defined for the plants and equipment, record and diagnose failures, and ensure proper related documentations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform machine rotations to ensure availability and reliability for operations, and availability for maintenance.
- Perform routine inspection of all HACCP PRPs, PRP+s and CCPs to ensure the quality performance requirements are satisfied, always.
- Ensure and sustain product quality, hygiene and process conditions throughout the Utilities work area in compliance with set quality standard.
- Maintaining basic conditions and resolve all types of losses(safety, energy, material, etc)
- Participation in planned maintenance day activities on the machine together with PM Specialist.
- Collects, store and dose chemicals into the plants in a safe manner, and ensure that chemicals usage and storage are in in compliance with set standards.
- Execution of autonomous maintenance (cleaning, lubrication. tightening and inspection) within work areas.
- Perform quality checks on each plant, e.g. CO2 purity, PH water, boilers & conductivity checks and dew points record the data in HACCP log sheets, and resolve deviations.
- Participate in improvement teams to improve utilities generation, distribution, and consumption efficiencies.
- Participate in BD analysis of machine(s) in work area to avoid re-occurrence, reduce minor stops, optimize maintenance cost.
- Document maintain records online (in SAP PM), and offline (in logbooks), of maintenance activities and system performance.
- Collaborate with other departments and external contractors to coordinate Utilities plants operation activities.
- Participate in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- NABTEB, WAEC Technical.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in production and maintenance roles, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
- Able to read and understand simple engineering manuals.
- Experience BD analysis of plants and equipment failures, to prevent re-occurrence, reduce minor stops, optimize maintenance cost, increase maintenance performance parameters.
- Proven good communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven experience in Utilities operations.
- Strong knowledge of Utilities systems, including water, gas, and electrical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of engineering and production safety practices.
- Proven good commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
