JOB PURPOSE

The Water Treatment & ETP Supervisor will ensure that the process for water and wastewater from the treatment Plants complies to all quality, food safety and environment standards and requirements. The incumbent will operate and ensure that the equipment is maintained as per work instructions.

KEY JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor the stock of raw water and provide update to Management.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for treatment plant failures or environmental incidents.
  • Ensure that treated water is always available for production purposes.
  • Implement good housekeeping practices for all the equipment and environment associated with the water treatment plant.
  • Ensure that backwashing of the sand and carbon filters is carried out.
  • Carry out all tests and analysis at the required frequency to ensure all water standards are met.
  • Proffer appropriate solutions to problems arising in the cause of operation.
  • Monitor inventory levels of water treatment test reagents and ensure availability and fit for use
  • Deploy corrective actions in cases where out-of-specification results are obtained.
  • Perform weekly sanitation and as needed CIP of all filtration and water systems
  • Complete routine water treatment system maintenance
  • Manage routine calibration activities for the water treatment system
  • Maintain trending of key water data and monitor trends for early warning signs
  • Initiate and participate on process improvement initiatives throughout plant
  • Monitor chemical usage trends for early warning signs

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • HND/B.Sc in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in water treatment and effluent treatment plant operations, preferably in the beverage or food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Good understanding of regulatory compliance, and environmental standards.
  • Proficiency in using SCADA systems and other monitoring tools.
