A. PROFILE
Role Title: General Ledger Accountant
Reporting to: General Ledger Manager
Division: Finance Operation

B. CONTEXT
Purpose: The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for ensuring that business transactions have been properly accounted for and accurately reflected in the company's accounting processes. This position also supports the General Ledger Manager in preparation of monthly financial statements, reconciliation of various general ledger accounts and completion and submission of reports required by third parties
Context: The Finance Department sets the strategic direction and runs day to day operations of all finance, procurement and supply chain activities. Finance Department also ensures the company growth plans are managed from a financial perspective and profit targets are achieved within an acceptable level of risk.
This role is part of the Financial Control division, which handles financial reporting, Financial Planning and Budgeting, Assets Management, Revenue Accounting, GL & Accounts Payable, Financial systems control, Taxation, Logistics and Inventory management.
C. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Transactional Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Collaborating with internal cross functions to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information
- Entering financial data such as accruals, prepayment, deferrals, reclassifications, and intercompany entries into the ledger monthly.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to GL accounts and document business transactions
- Manage all key accounting functions including accrued expenses, finance lease accounting (IFRS 16), cost allocations between intercompany (Mobile Financial) along with the periodic close process
- Maintain appropriate intercompany balances through performing the monthly reconciliation between the U9's entities and analyze the nature of the related balances.
- Reviewing vendor contracts and invoices to ensure proper expense recognition and classification
- Analyze monthly operating expenses and report it with narrative to management
- Reconcile complex accounts involving inconsistent data
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare trial balance for financial statement preparations, schedule of accrual balance with aging, prepayment with monthly amortization.
- Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct
- Assist in producing financial statements and reports for consolidation and standalone of companies
- Analyze the reports for accuracy, and identify potential compliance issues with reporting requirements
- Participate in other assignments and ad hoc projects as required by management
- Monitor and review accuracy of recorded financial transactions and related reports
- Aggregate financial records from the various operational systems to submit accurate data for reports on a timely basis
- Quarterly prepare and issue the necessary reports and financial survey to DICA
- Prepare the necessary report to respond to queries for periodic management audit, statutory audit as well as internal audit
- Understand the interrelationships between various accounting information systems and identify opportunities to increase efficiency or effectiveness of internal accounting processes and procedures

- Recording expenditure in accordance with approved financial regulations

Internal: Employees from all departments relating to Financial Information.
External: External auditors, regulators, Myanmar Investment Commission, suppliers, Industrial alliances with other Telcos
Decision Making: Decisions related to aligning with IFRS accounting standards
F. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge
- 3 – 5 years' experience in accounting field
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles
- General knowledge of financial regulatory reporting requirements, both local and international
- Demonstrated experience in GL processes and month-end close activities, including reconciliation of statements, ledger accounts and audit confirmations
- Experience conducting financial analysis and preparing reports
- Ability to confidently navigate financial information systems and databases
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; advanced abilities with Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail
Minimum Entry Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized university
- CPA / CA / ACCA or equivalent certification is preferred but not mandatory
