Role Title: Energy Control Manager

B. CONTEXT

Purpose

The Energy Control Manager is responsible for ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and uninterrupted energy supply across all network sites. The role focuses on energy optimization, fuel management, power system performance, and outage prevention, especially in challenging environments such as fuel shortages or unstable grid conditions.

Context:

The Energy Control Manager ensures uninterrupted and cost-efficient power supply across the telecom network, especially in unstable grid and fuel-constrained environments, by optimizing energy resources and prioritizing critical sites

C. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure to enhance energy availability for all sites
  • Prevent network downtime due to power failures
  • Manage and control fuel planning, allocation, and consumption
  • Ensure timely refueling and avoid fuel stockouts
  • Optimize energy OPEX (fuel, electricity, maintenance costs)
  • Reduce generator runtime through efficient energy usage
  • Maintain performance of generators, batteries, and power systems
  • Lead energy-related outage response and recovery
  • Manage fuel crisis and power emergency situations
  • Prioritize sites based on revenue, criticality, and coverage
  • Track and report energy KPIs (fuel usage, uptime, backup readiness)
  • Ensure SLA compliance of Tower Co and energy vendors
  • Coordinate with Network, Business, and Finance teams
  • Implement and manage energy monitoring systems (EMS)
  • Drive energy efficiency and cost-saving initiatives
  • Support renewable/hybrid energy deployment (e.g., solar)

E. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS & DECISION MAKING

Interacts with:

Internal: Partner Management Team, Regional Network Operations team, Procurement, Finance, Regional business team

External: Power/Tower Companies, ZTE MS Team

Decision Making: Get approval from Senior Operation Manager

F. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge

Minimum 5–8 years' experience in telecom energy or power systems with strong knowledge of generators, batteries, fuel management, and energy monitoring systems. Proven ability to manage outages, optimize energy cost, and coordinate vendors in challenging operating environments

Minimum Entry Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Electronics & Telecommunication, Network Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
