B. CONTEXT
Purpose: The role will have the opportunity to shape automation technologies to drive business insights and efficiency gains.
As the Automation Manager, the role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and ICT professionals to identify opportunities for data-driven process improvements. The role will oversee the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions, ensuring they are delivered on time.
The role will leverage automation technologies to streamline processes, optimize efficiency, and reduce manual efforts.
Context: Technology & Information is responsible for development and planning of the long/medium term technology network roadmap and architecture for both network and IT in line with corporate overall strategic requirements and technology strategy and to ensure that all network and it projects are aligned with the technology roadmap
The Technology Unit within U9 is the backbone of the organization providing all technology services which enable U9 to deliver its services to its customers across all technology platforms, 24/7/365. The quality of the customer experience sits within this BU and therefore it plays a significant role in the delivery of revenue and satisfaction targets.
The DEA&SA unit contributes to this through the effective management, consolidation and engineering of Data and the Service Assurance and Customer Experience improvement for all services provided by U9 internal and external customers.
C. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Assessment:
- Assess existing business processes across departments to identify areas for automation.
- Evaluate the potential impact of automation on efficiency, cost savings, and quality.
Technology Evaluation and Selection:
- Research, evaluate, and recommend automation technologies and tools that best suit the organization's needs.
- Ensure that selected technologies align with the organization's architecture and data infrastructure.
Automation and Process Optimization:
- Lead automation initiatives to streamline business processes, improve efficiency, and reduce manual efforts.
- Identify automation opportunities across different functional areas and develop implementation plans.
- Evaluate automation technologies and tools, selecting the most suitable solutions for specific business needs.
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement and integrate automation technologies into existing systems.
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of automation initiatives, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
Solution Development:
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of automation solutions, including robotic process automation (RPA) workflows, scripts, and custom applications.
- Ensure automation solutions are well-documented and maintainable.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and cross-functional departments to understand their needs and challenges.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor on data analytics, automation, and change management matters.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and training sessions to gather requirements, provide updates, and drive collaboration.
- Present data-driven insights, automation opportunities, and change management plans to senior management and stakeholders.
- Engage stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and align on priorities.
Team Management and Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of data analysts, data engineers, and data warehouse administrators.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional growth.
- Set clear goals, expectations, and performance standards for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
D. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Data Analytics: Measure the accuracy and validity of the data-driven insights provided by the Senior Manager.
- Automation and Process Optimization: Measure the percentage of process automation initiatives that have resulted in measurable time or resource savings.
- Change Management: Measure the rate of successful adoption of new technologies, systems, or processes implemented by the Senior Manager.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Evaluate the level of collaboration and alignment achieved with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
E. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS & DECISION MAKING
Interacts with: who else do they interact with and at what level and for what purpose Internally & Externally
Internal: BI, Legal & Regulatory, Sourcing, Finance, Commercial and Logistics
External: Local subcon, third party vendors, MS partners, U9 Group
Decision Making
- Full authority over all work carried out within the Automation department section
- Input into cost center authority to his line manager
- Input into major (technology wide) decisions on a day-to-day basis
- Resource allocation decisions within the department
- Operational decisions to improve methods and procedures.
More strategic decisions or those with significant cross functional/budget or customer impact will be taken in conjunction with others across U9 Myanmar and within the technology BU.
F. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge
- 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, at least 4 of which should be in a managerial position in a similar size technology-based organization
- Significant and demonstrable experience in Automation and their associated technologies and operations
- Proven expertise in translating business requirements into operating technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement efficient Automation solutions.
- Strong technical background in tools such as SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Python, Linux, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Tableau.
Minimum Entry Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Telecoms engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Professional certification on Data Engineering and Analytics is an advantage.
