Role Profile 

This position is suited to experienced security professionals who can integrate quickly into onboard operations and perform at a consistently high level. The role requires individuals who are proactive, self-driven, and capable of operating with a supervisory mindset when needed, taking ownership of situations and supporting the wider Security Team. Candidates should demonstrate strong operational awareness, sound judgement, and the ability to maintain high professional standards in a dynamic cruise ship environment.

Role Purpose

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant environment for guests, crew, and vessel operations. Working as part of the onboard Security Team, the role involves patrol duties, access control, incident response, and support to investigations in line with the ISPS Code and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular day and night patrols across all vessel areas
• Manage access control, including gangway operations and monitoring procedures
• Identify, assess, and report security risks or suspicious behaviour
• Respond effectively to incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations
• Support investigations, including evidence gathering and documentation
• Participate in drills and emergency preparedness activities
• Enforce company policies and Master's Rules consistently
• Produce clear, accurate, and timely incident reports

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum of three completed contracts as a Security Guard with a major cruise line
• Currently onboard or recently disembarked
• Ability to provide performance evaluations/appraisals upon request
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with guests and crew, obtain statements, and manage sensitive situations with empathy

Qualifications & Certifications

• Valid STCW certification, including all required courses
• STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties, PDSD, or Ship Security Officer certification
• Medically and physically fit for patrol and emergency duties
