About Trideca

Trideca is a specialist technology consultancy delivering outcomes across enterprise integration, digital transformation, data, and cloud. We partner with Australia's leading organisations to build, integrate, and scale mission-critical platforms. Our teams combine deep technical expertise with pragmatic delivery - we embed alongside clients, roll our sleeves up, and get things shipped. We are growing quickly, and we are selective about the people we bring on: we hire for craft, care and character.

ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT

Our client is an ASX-listed financial services group launching a new product into market. The squad is delivering a greenfield platform underpinned by an API-first integration pattern, replacing an earlier data-transformation-led approach. The work is hands-on, fast-moving, and under significant time-to-market pressure — testing maturity is being built up alongside delivery, and the QAs we appoint will help shape the testing framework.

ROLE OVERVIEW

A senior, hands-on technical Test Analyst focused squarely on API and integration testing. You will be one of two QAs in the squad and the technical depth on the test side — pairing closely with engineers to validate integrations, data transformations, and API contracts as the platform is built. The role is manual API testing first, with automation introduced in a dedicated sprint after launch.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Across the squad

  • Design, write, and execute test cases against API endpoints and end-to-end business flows.
  • Validate data transposition and transformation logic as data flows across multiple integrated platforms.
  • Raise, triage, and track defects with engineers; drive issues through to resolution at squad pace.
  • Contribute to building the test framework and ways of working — the client's BAU testing capability is still being established.
  • Partner closely with the BA, Tech Lead, and integration engineers in a small, high-cadence squad.
  • Support a later automation sprint by structuring manual test assets so they translate cleanly into automated suites.

Specific to this role

  • Act as the technical test depth in the squad, pairing with engineers on integration design and data contracts.
  • Build and curate the API test asset library (collections, fixtures, payloads) so it transitions cleanly into automation.
  • Validate cross-system data integrity and transformation accuracy, with particular focus on API-first flows replacing prior data-transformation tooling.
  • Identify automation candidates and structure manual tests so they can be lifted into a later automation sprint with minimal rework.

WHAT YOU BRING

Must-have

  • Strong hands-on experience as a technical test analyst on integration-heavy programs.
  • Demonstrable depth in API testing — request construction, response validation, status/error handling, schema and contract validation.
  • Proven ability to test data transposition and transformation across multiple systems.
  • Comfort working in a small, senior squad with limited existing test framework — sets the bar rather than waits for one.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, with the credibility to push back on engineers and product when defects are deferred.
  • Australian working rights and the ability to work hybrid from a Melbourne CBD client site.
  • Deep, hands-on experience testing REST APIs — including auth flows, contracts, error semantics, and edge cases.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns (synchronous vs asynchronous, eventing, retries, idempotency).
  • Comfort reading payloads, logs, and traces to diagnose integration issues independently.

Nice-to-have

  • Exposure to financial services, wealth, superannuation, or insurance domains.
  • Familiarity with API automation tooling (Postman/Newman, RestAssured, Karate, Playwright API, or equivalent).
  • Experience standing up testing frameworks from scratch in low-maturity environments.
  • CI/CD pipeline integration of test suites (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
