This is a full-time position with Los Angeles Unified School District.
The Constructability Review Specialist – General supports the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative during the pre-construction phase. Responsibilities include reviewing project scope documents, making value engineering recommendations, identifying design inconsistencies and errors, and preparing comprehensive constructability reviews of pre-bid construction documents. Candidates should have 15 years of full-time professional experience, either with an Architecture degree (including 10 years as a Construction Administrator and 5 years as a Designer), or as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager on public/educational or large commercial projects. Proficiency in Bluebeam, MS Word, and MS Excel is required.
Responsibilities
Supports the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative during the pre-construction phase in the following efforts:
- Assists in defining and reviewing the Project Requirement Document scope of work and schedule including interim housing requirements
- Makes value engineering recommendations at the outset of the design
- Comments on the design professional's deliverable identifying inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors and omissions in the progress plans to reduce RFIs and Change Orders
- Ensures documents are coordinated between design disciplines
- Prepares comprehensive constructability review of pre-bid construction documents
- Coordinates the above efforts with the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative in a collaborative way
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Experience
- 15 years' full-time professional paid experience with an Architecture degree, including: 10 of those years acting as a Construction Administrator on public/educational facility construction projects with full responsibility for supporting those projects (construction value of $8M or more for a single project, or a combined cumulative project value of $80M); and 5 years acting as a Designer
- 15 years full time paid professional experience as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager on public/educational facility construction and/or large commercial projects, with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with a construction value of a single project in excess of $30M and a combined cumulative project value of $400M

- Works quickly, efficiently and confidently
- Proficient in writing RFCs, reviewing submittals and change orders
- Proficiency in computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.), including Bluebeam
Required Education
Minimum of two (2) years of college level coursework from a recognized college, university or trade school. Five (5) years of additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
