EMBRYOLOGIST

General Requirements

• Masters in Embryology
• Minimum 3 years of progressive clinical laboratory experience and laboratory operations post Masters in Embryology
• Experience in good technical practice in Embryology lab set up
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Experience in accredited laboratory is an advantage

Job Specification

• Examination and dissection of surgical resection specimens, to select the most appropriate samples for microscope slides
• Perform IVF, artificial insemination, cryopreservation of embryos and embryonic transfer
• Set up filters, medias and supplies used during the collection of embryos
• Rinse, search, wash and accurately grade embryos according to protocols
• Discarded or freeze embryos according to the patient consent
• Monitor and fill nitrogen storage tanks when needed
• Perform oocyte searching and evaluation for IVF
• Monitor and record temperatures, CO2 reading, water level of incubator and other appropriate information
• Performs ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) & Conventional Insemination
• Maintain embryo inventories
• Complete documentation of patient information
• Prepare gametes and the environment for IVF and facilitation of fertilization
• Establish effective working relationships with the medical staff, administration, and other departments and services
