JOB SUMMARY / SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • The Branch Service Officer is generally tasked to ensure that all policies, guidelines, procedures and internal controls set by the management and other regulatory bodies are complied with and undertaken by the department.
  • The Branch Service Officer is primarily responsible in overseeing the daily operations of the branch as to the implementations of the necessary control measures in the cash section. Ensures efficient cash management and proper safekeeping of bank documents, supplies & accountable forms and late checks of the branch. As chief cash custodian, ensures adherence to prescribed bank policies and procedures, internal control regulatory provisions provided by BSP, and proper maintenance and control of cash vault and vault facilities. A team player in providing excellent customer-relations to help increase deposit generation.
  • The Branch Service Officer shall ensure adherence to existing internal control procedures while maintaining the highest quality of service.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSILIBITIES:

Management:

  • Performs related tasks areas of branch operations such as cash custodianship, tellering, handling of new accounts functions and with bookkeeping.
  • Ensures that the bank branch complies with all Bank policies and procedures as well as BSP and all other applicable government rules and regulations;
  • Implements service standards set by the Management in order to offer best service to the customers to foster continued Branch Patronage and Bank loyalty while establishes and maintains good business relations with the clients of the bank.
  • Performs other related tasks as may be assigned by immediate superiors from time to time.

Operation:

  • Acts as Chief Custodian of the Cash Vault and its contents.
  • Assists customers with daily cash inquiries. Identify promising sales opportunities that will assist the bank in meeting its objectives.
  • Monitors and ensures maintenance and control of the CIV level within approved benchmark;
  • Formulates monitoring systems and internal control measures in the cash management subject to the existing policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Handles and maintains the monitoring of the office supplies and accountable forms inventory; review all issued supply and accountable forms (certificates of time deposits, passbooks, checkbooks, etc.) against the monitoring documentation and the GL balances for counter-verification of the CSO.
  • Overrides withdrawals and encashment transactions of the Branch Service Associate within authorized limits;
  • Performs the branch daily callback of window transactions of the Branch Service Associate (if theres any).
  • Regular holder of dial combination of both cash vault door and cash safe.
  • Regular holder of main door keys and vault grill doors.
  • Reviews and verifies signatures of encashment, withdrawals, debit authorities, etc.;
  • Checks and verifies register of all outward checks prepared by the BSA and balancing the same;
  • Supervises Branch Service Associates and reviews accomplishments &/or workloads;
  • Authorized verifier of all document transactions of the bank/branch;
  • Verifies daily the contents of the picos box of the BSA before keeping it inside the cash vault;
  • Monitors maturing accounts and prepares checks for settlement accounts
  • Coordinate with the Branch Business Head all maturing placements of clients for the day.
  • Handles replacement of lost passbooks/certificate of time deposit;
  • Ensures that all signature cards of closed accounts are removed from active accounts, affix signature, indicate date of closure, and stamped CLOSED.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Branch Banking Division Head.

  • Dial combination of records vault
  • Keys to outer grill door of records vault
  • Password to Alarm System
  • Keys to main door and security panel of the Branch

Accounting and Reconciliation

Reconciles cash transaction and accountable forms and supplies.

General Authority

The BSO is authorized to handle withdrawal, encashment transactions, issuance of cashier's check, counter check and call back.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

Education:

Preferably a graduate of business, finance, economic, management or marketing degree.

Experience:

Preferably 2 years of successful banking experience with heavy emphasis on operations and business development in financial services

Others:

Must have a comprehensive understanding of banking and financial product regulations is also valuable. In-depth experience in bank branch operations. Must have excellent track record in achieving targets. Consistently recognized for customer retention in markets with business partners, and establishing genuine rapport.
