Our client is a manufacturer with a production site in Decorah, Iowa.

The Role

The Manufacturing/Process Engineer develops, maintains and improves production processes, focusing on process stability, continuous improvement and capital project support. You will partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance and Supply Chain to keep manufacturing efficient, safe and repeatable.

What You Will Do

• Support daily manufacturing by monitoring process performance and responding to process issues.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process flows, routings and standard work.
• Analyze scrap, rework, cycle time and downtime data to find improvement opportunities, and implement changes that improve safety, quality, efficiency and throughput.
• Support new product and process introductions through setup, trials and documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma and related methods, including kaizen events.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead capital projects through equipment selection, justification, installation and startup, including ROI analyses and technical specifications.
• Coordinate vendors, Maintenance and Operations for installation and commissioning, and support process validation, capability studies and acceptance testing.
• Sustain improvements by updating documentation and training operators.
• Support non-conformance investigations, internal audits and documentation reviews, and build safety, ergonomics and risk mitigation into process design.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or related field)
• 4-7 years of hands-on manufacturing or process engineering experience in a production environment
• Lean manufacturing and capital project experience
• Strong working knowledge of process capability, cycle time analysis, scrap reduction and efficiency metrics
• Experience writing work instructions, standard work and process documentation
• Experience with capital equipment installation, commissioning and process validation
• Hands-on style and enjoyment of working with production teams
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing data
• Willingness to travel up to 15%
