About the job Senior Accountant

What will you do:

Financial

  • Ensure accurate full-cycle bookkeeping (accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank transactions, invoice processing, adjusting journal entries, payment processing).
  • Assist in navigating corporate structures and determining which one suits business objectives.
  • Maintenance of all relevant files and supporting documents, including monthly balance sheets, income statements, journal entries, and continuity schedules.
  • Ensure accurate, timely preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare and enter monthly general ledger journal entries & accruals.
  • Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.

Taxation

  • Analyze tax issues and advise on tax minimization strategies.
  • Complete tax engagements by computing taxes owed and preparing corporate tax returns and other compliance slips and tax returns (T4s/T5s).
  • Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address full compliance.
  • Calculating and reviewing share capital and ensuring compliance with government standards
  • Develop and apply knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation.
  • Work with client and tax team to develop and implement tax planning and tax minimization strategy engagements.
  • Prepare basic tax reorganizations, including engagement planning, data collection, step plans, and building direct client relationships.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

What you bring to this role:

  • Must have CA/CPA Designation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS/ASPE.
  • Knowledge of data management and financial data analysis.
  • Experience working with QuickBooks, Caseware, TaxCycle, and Simply Accounting and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation.
  • Experience in the preparation of domestic tax compliance as well as research and documentation of tax issues
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act
