What you will do:

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare Canadian corporate tax provisions.
  • Coordinate and Review US tax provisions.
  • Coordinate and consolidate regional inputs into global tax provision and financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a Global Cash Tax Forecast.

Tax Advisory

  • Field tax-related queries from the shareholder relations, mobility, HR, payroll, insurance, commercial and legal groups.
  • Support shared services teams on various tax issues that may arise related to company shareholdings, mobility for staff cross-border and payroll source deductions.
  • Support business units and commercial teams with research and recommendations for minimizing tax exposure and complying with tax requirements.
  • Maintain annual global shareholder tax communications.

Compliance

  • Canadian compliance, including T2 tax returns, Foreign Affiliate reporting (T1134 forms), surplus calculations and estimated payments
  • US Corporate Tax Provision oversight and review
  • US tax compliance coordination, including working with external tax consultants
  • Manage and respond to Canadian corporate tax audit issues and queries
  • Coordinate US tax audit responses with external tax consultants in the US.   Maintain global transfer pricing documentation, including updating Master and Local File requirements globally, including Country by Country reporting requirements
  • Maintain and provide tax-relatedTax forms such as W-8BEN, W9, and Tax Residence Certificates (US and Canada) as needed.
  • Coordinate with HR/payroll on obtaining tax credit/grant-related information, viz., coop credits etc.
  • Oversee and review the administration around tax withholding, remittance and reporting requirements related to cross-border payments.
  • Liaise with finance and tax teams globally to provide support and inform any formal and informal tax reporting needs.

Skills And Experience:

  • 5 to 6 years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or Tax consulting
  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working in Canadian Tax
  • International tax experience
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, and management principles.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing domestic tax compliance, including provision work papers and tax returns
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software such as SAP, Forms Master and Tax Prep etc.
  • Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and strong interpersonal skills.'
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without requiring sponsorship.
