About the Company

Our client manufactures welded, machined and formed metal products and operates an ISO 9001 quality system at its Omaha, Nebraska site.

The Role

The Senior Quality Engineer leads quality initiatives, drives root cause analysis, supports new product introductions and makes sure products consistently meet customer expectations. You will partner with cross-functional teams, suppliers and customers, maintain ISO 9001 standards, lead advanced product quality planning for the site, and set the controls that keep products within engineering specifications, welding codes and customer tolerances.

What You Will Do

• Lead quality in advanced product quality planning (APQP).
• Develop and maintain dashboards and QA systems.
• Develop control plans, PFMEAs and quality plans for legacy and new products.
• Manage product and process qualifications, including Cpk studies and Gage R&R.
• Monitor reject and corrective action performance and trends.
• Lead advanced quality methods (DMAIC, 8D, mistake-proofing, process control) and drive advanced root cause work.
• Oversee QMS certification compliance and manage the audit schedule.
• Standardize tools and processes, and lead kata, coaching and value stream mapping.
• Lead global quality initiatives and design-for-quality assignments, and handle escalations.
• Supervise direct reports, train the quality team on fundamental tools, and mentor engineers.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years as a Certified Quality Engineer
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, weldments, assemblies and fabrication, and the mechanical aptitude to assemble and disassemble per drawings
• Engineering drawing interpretation and GD&T proficiency
• Failure analysis and root cause investigation skills (3L5W, fishbone, fault tree)
• Strong experience with corrective actions, 8Ds, MRBs and rapid response
• Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA and control plans
• Professional customer and supplier communication and strong cross-functional leadership
• Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills with fluent Excel

Nice to Have

• 3+ years of practical APQP experience
• Statistical and data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, Excel macros or Power BI
