Role Overview
We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer to design, implement, and operate a secure and scalable Azure-based data platform centered around Databricks. Beyond infrastructure and automation, this role includes developing and operationalizing concepts for data security, governance, and platform observability.
The ideal candidate combines technical hands-on experience with a conceptual and proactive mindset, helping to shape the long-term foundation for analytics and AI use cases.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage infrastructure as code for Azure and Databricks environments
- Develop and implement concepts for data access, deletion, security, and platform usage
- Set up observability tooling (e.g., Datadog dashboards and alerts) to monitor cost, access, and platform health
- Ensure platform governance and audit readiness through documented controls
- Collaborate with InfoSec, Compliance, and platform consumers to align technical solutions with organizational standards
Core Skills & Expertise
- Cloud Infrastructure (Terraform): Build and manage scalable and secure Azure environments (ADLS, Key Vault, Networking, Databricks)
- CI/CD Automation: Create and maintain pipelines for infrastructure, notebooks, policies, and access controls (Azure DevOps)
- Databricks Platform Engineering: workspace setup, cluster policies, service principals, Unity Catalog
- Access & Identity Management: Role-based permission concepts across Azure and Databricks (RBAC, SCIM, Unity Catalog ACLs)
- Data Security & Compliance: Develop and implement concepts for:
- Data classification, encryption, key management
- Deletion & retention policies
- Secure test data provisioning (synthetic data, masking, subsetting)
- Monitoring & Observability: Design and implement platform-level monitoring using tools like Datadog, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.

- Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to operationalize abstract requirements

- Capable of explaining technical topics to InfoSec, compliance, and data teams
