Our client is a dynamic, expanding IT partner for German SMEs and public sector organizations, offering end-to-end solutions in IT infrastructure, security, and digital workplace management.
Department: Group IT / Infrastructure / Operations
Role Objective:
The System Engineer is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT systems and infrastructures. They ensure stable, secure, and high-performance IT operations and contribute to the further development of the system architecture.
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning, installation, and configuration of servers, networks, and storage systems
- Administration of M365 and Windows on-premises systems
- Application support and point of contact for the Service Desk (e.g., ERP, VoIP, PowerBI, MDM, file server, password server, asset management, monitoring)
- Ensuring system availability, performance, and security
- Execution of system updates, patches, and backups
- Monitoring and troubleshooting of systems and networks
- Documentation of IT infrastructure and processes
- Participation in IT projects (e.g., migrations, cloud integration, automation)
- Collaboration with other IT teams, service providers, and business departments
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in computer science or a comparable qualification (e.g., IT specialist for system integration)
- Several years of professional experience in system administration or IT infrastructure
- In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), network technologies, and IT security
- Experience with cloud platforms is an advantage
- Knowledge of automation (e.g., PowerShell) desirable
- Strong analytical thinking, structured working style, and problem-solving skills
- Good command of German
