The Role
As National Key Account Manager, you will act as the main point of contact for key accounts, which include 70% of Japan's wine, beer and spirit producers - overseeing the entire lifecycle of client relationships, from business development to operational execution.
You will have Key Account Management Experience with working experience in Ocean Freight logistics. It is not necessary to have experience of Beer, Wine or Spirits.
If you have Sales Management experience of between 5-10 sales people, you will be considered for an elevated Sales Management position, controlling Key accounts and the Country Sales team. Native level Japanese Language is essential.
The role demands a professional who can understand the unique needs of each client and deliver tailored logistics solutions that drive satisfaction and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with high-value clients.
- Account Growth: Drive sales and business growth by identifying new opportunities within existing accounts and securing new business across the Japan market.
- Customer Service Excellence: Act as the key point of contact for clients, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of any issues related to their shipments.
- Strategic Planning: Develop tailored account strategies, ensuring the alignment of client needs with company goals and objectives.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams such as operations, customs, and customer service to ensure efficient service delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Market Insights: Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to ensure the client stays ahead of the curve in the Japanese market.
- Reporting & Analytics: Provide regular reports to senior management on account performance, sales activities, and new opportunities for growth.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in Key Account Management or a similar role within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
- Language: Native-level fluency in Japanese and a strong command of English (both written and spoken).
- Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of the logistics and freight forwarding industry, with specific experience in ocean logistics.
- Client-Focused: Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to maintain and grow strategic client accounts at a senior level.
- Sales & Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of identifying opportunities and closing deals, with a solid understanding of sales strategies and account growth.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with experience in managing complex client needs and addressing challenges effectively.
- Cultural Understanding: Familiarity with Japanese business culture and market nuances, with the ability to communicate effectively in a high-context, detail-oriented environment.
